Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Help

To Manually Route Cable

Manual cable routing is option for cables that have failed auto routing due to insufficient raceway capacity. For example if maximum fill factor for raceway is set to 30% and adding additional cable will increase it to 31% it is still acceptable, but that cable will have to be routed manually.
  1. Open the Cable Manager and select a cable.
  2. Click the Select/Route Raceway option from ribbon menu.
  3. The following options are available when adding a route:
    • Select Raceway: Requires user to manually select each raceway segment.
    • Route Raceway: Lets user select the desired raceways for cable entry and exit. The router will automatically select all raceway sections between the source and target.
  4. Select the Route Raceway option.

M1 and MCC1 are highlighted as source and target equipment. Notice that only some raceway is displayed as available for route selection. Only raceway of proper voltage level is available for selection, all other raceway display is turned off to avoid confusion.

  5. Select the raceway routing line closest to MCC1.
  6. Next, select the raceway routing line closest to M1.
  7. Click a data point anywhere in Routing.DGN file.

Cable manager is back in focus and all raceway segments between source and target are selected

  8. To visualize a cable select it and select Visualize from the ribbon menu.
  9. Select Update Length from ribbon menu cables tool group to update the cable length before creating any reports.
Note: When doing manual cable routing raceway fill factor can exceeded preset values
